About

With her experience in the editorial and acquisitions departments of book publishers, Sylvia Frank Rodrigue is uniquely qualified to advise authors on how to prepare proposals and manuscripts for review and publication by academic and trade publishers. She enjoys acquisitions, developmental editing, proofreading, and historical research.

While she was a senior at Messiah College, Sylvia served as an editorial intern at Stackpole Books. After graduation in 1991, she started her career in book publishing as an editorial assistant at Stackpole Books. She worked on trade books in the areas of history, gardening, woodworking, magic, and military reference. Five years later, Sylvia left Stackpole and moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to acquire history and political science books for Louisiana State University Press. After six years she was promoted to editor in chief. During her eight years at LSU Press, Rodrigue acquired more than 175 books. Her subject area at LSU Press included the American Civil War, southern history, Louisiana history, political science, memoir, literary studies, and poetry. In 2004 Rodrigue left LSU Press and launched Sylverlining. Currently Rodrigue's main client is Southern Illinois University Press, for which she serves as executive editor, acquiring Lincoln, Civil War, and Reconstruction manuscripts.

To learn more about her career background, see Sylvia Frank Rodrigue's profile on LinkedIn.

With coauthor Faye Phillips, Associate Dean of Libraries at Louisiana State University, Sylvia coauthored Historic Baton Rouge for the Foundation for Historical Louisiana and Images of America: Baton Rouge for Arcadia Publishing.
